The Matanzas 5000 Mission

Florida’s fastest 5K, the MATANZAS 5000 benefits youth running programs in St. John’s County, Florida.

Proceeds from this race benefit the cross-country running programs at St. Johns County high schools and middle schools, as well as the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. Since 1989, ACRR has donated more than $300,000.00 to youth running programs, all made possible by your continued support and by the generosity of our valued Matanzas 5K sponsors.

MATANZAS 5000 has allowed ANCIENT CITY ROAD RUNNERS to donate over $300,000.00 to our local schools!

The Matanzas 5000 follows a flat 3.1-mile course through historic downtown St. Augustine.

The race starts and finishes at Francis Field near — winding along the beautiful bay front, through historic neighborhoods, and past Flagler College.

Packet Pickup:

Packet Pick Up is available in 2 locations on Friday, Jan. 17th.

Parking Options:

  • Garage next to Finish Line: This is free if you arrive before 7:00AM. After that, it costs $15.00 to park for the entire day.

  • Street parking: This is allowed anywhere the curb is not painted yellow and where “Reserved Parking” does not appear on a sign or on the pavement. There are many such spots on San Marco Avenue and US Highway 1.

  • Orange Street parking lots: The lots near the Race Expo location will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Castillo de San Marcos: This metered lot accepts credit and debit cards with paid parking enforced starting at 8AM ($1.50/hour).

  • The Prince of Peace Catholic Church: Located at 100 San Marco Avenue, the church offers free parking.

Please note: Race organizers have no control over parking rates set by the City of St. Augustine, and the race receives no portion of the parking fees.

The race will be chip timed through 1st Place Sports. You must cross the timing mats to be included in the results. Your race results and final time will include both chip time and gun time. The Matanzas 5000 is a USATF-certified course (FL12049EBM).
